The fortifications of Bellinzona are among the most important
testimonies to medieval castle architecture in the European Alps. They were declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
With their walls, turrets, pinnacles and gates, the fortifications amaze even today's visitors.

This medieval convent is located in a chestnut forest above Claro, and to this day nuns live here in seclusion. After careful restauration, the visitor gets a fine impression of the completely preserved convent complex, which affords a fantastic view of the Swiss Riviera and Bellinzona.Region.

The patrician Villa dei Cedri from the year 1890, which was expanded in 1920 by an annex, is in itself a monument erected to North Italian neo-Classical architecture. Since 1985 it has been the fascinating venue for changing exhibitions and home to the City of Bellinzona's Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art.
