The Castello Visconteo served as the seat of the Visconti Dukes of Milan from 1513 to 1798.

There are myriad churches worth visiting in this area, e.g., S. Francesco in Locarno, Santa Maria della Misericordia in Ascona, S. Vittore in Muralto.

The former papal college has a magnificent two-storey courtyard in the Lombard style (1585-1602) embellished with coats-of-arms and open loggias. It now houses a secondary school. The complex includes the Church of Santa Maria della Misericordia, built in the 14th and 15th centuries.

The Pinacoteca Casa Rusca is located in a restored building from the 18th century and was inaugurated in 1987. It is home to Locarno's art collections, which are displayed in temporary exhibitions.

The municipal museum for modern art is to be found on Via Borgoin in a beautiful building from the late 16th century . It features, besides tempary exhibits, an important selection of the community's permament art collection and is the seat of two foundations: the foundations of Marianne Werefkin as well as Richard and Uli Seewald.

On this hiking trail (1.2 km) you will find innovative equipment and games to please children, as well as the young at heart.
