The enormous limestone massif of the Dents du Midi, the western mountain bastion of the Valais, rises to the sky between Val du Trient and Val d'Illiez. Thanks to its harsh aspect, it is still mostly undeveloped. There are no cableways travelling up to its summits, and no roads leading across its passes. This is why the Dents du Midi are particularly appealing if you want to go on a journey of discovery on foot, the only means of transportation by which you can really explore this mountain landscape. You will be hiking from hut to hut across passes, fields and Alpine pastures. The trail leads from Mex via Salanfe (this first stage is pictured here), Pas d'Encel, Lacs d'Antème, Signal de Soi, Crête de Jeurs and Le Fahy back to the starting point. You will usually be hiking at an elevation of 1700 to 2100 meters above sea level, and there is a constant variety of impressions: lush Alpine flora, waterfalls, forests, lakes, glaciers and pastures. This tour is a great attraction and a challenge for hiking enthusiasts!
