Around Orvin, the landscape is one of dense mixed woodland and lush meadows. After Les Prés d'Orvin the scene is dominated by huge fir trees. The higher you go, the more barren it becomes. Right up at the summit there are only a few blades of grass covering the rock. Yet the view is all the more impressive. On one side you can see the chain of the Alps and the "Three Lakes", while on the other side extends the wide sweep of the Jura.

From Frinvillier you can choose between two main routes up to the Chasseral. The first leads via the Geissrücken straight up to the summit. The second, rather shorter, goes up to the top via Orvin and Les Prés d'Orvin. Both routes are marked all the way with the yellow and red signs of the Jura Mountain Trail.
