Neuchâtel: Boudry-St. Aubin

The deep blue of Lake Neuchâtel and snow-capped peaks of the Alps beyond lend this trail an attractive backdrop. It starts in the historical village of Boudry and leads along the hillside to neighboring St. Aubin. Flowering meadows and fragrant forests are just as much a part of the experience as are the stout farmhouses and splendid villas high above the lake.
The hike begins at the railway station just outside Boudry, where the yellow signs for hikers point first in the direction of Bevaix. The first vineyards are encountered soon after crossing the river Areuse. The trail continues uphill and then through a wonderfully fragrant forest all the way to Bevaix. Just above Bevaix, it veers off in the direction of Fresens. Here, the walking is easy and the views superb. After the Auberge du Plan Jacot, the trail continues west via Chatillon as far as the turn-off to the station just above Gorgier-St. Aubin.
