From Marthalen the hiking tour leads to the Radhof and then through the forest to Rheinau. The monastery church is situated on an island in the river loop. Hiking down along the river you will reach the former fishing village of Ellikon, where the straight course of the river Thur reaches its first bend. The trail now leads up through the vineyard to the Hummenberg vantage point and finally back to Marthalen.

The ferry at Ellikon makes an excursion into the the neighboring country to the north, Germany, possible.

For families: Rheinau is a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by the Rhine, beckoning to a ride on a rubber dinghy, boat or ship.
