The entire course of the Allondon, a tributary of the Rhone, is a floodplain biotope of national significance. The hike starts in Malval, from where you have the best view of the gorgeous valley. Hikeon the lane, past the old chapel beneath the little village to Pont d'Essertines. Besides the great variety of songbirds, including the nightingale, rare orchids also thrive and blossom on old pastures. If you are lucky, you will spot a kingfisher, a species that is very rare in Switzerland.
