Peter Schmid, an apothecary from the Valais, purchased this guildhall in 1315 and in 1385 sold it to the linen weavers and milliners. Die Waag (the carters’ guild) is one of the seven old Zurich guilds which still has its own guildhall.
While the main Guild Hall is decorated with 14 glass paintings, the Zunftstube features a painted tiled stove by Heinrich Pfau. On the third floor, there is an oil painting of the poet and guildsman J. M. Usteri (1763–1827), author of the famous folksong “Freut euch des Lebens” (Take Delight in Life).

Fine dining

We make our traditional Zurich-style chopped meat with kidney of veal – a must for all fans of solid, old-fashioned cooking. The wine list boasts a selection of all the grape varieties grown on the shores of Lake Zurich.
