At the back of beyond, in the "Feufliber Valley”, where the Hintere Frenke originates and gushes in waterfalls down into the valley, the gondolas of the Waterfall Cableway open up the unique sun-kissed Jura landscape renowned for magnificent high vantage points, pristine mountain air and a diverse fauna and flora.

After unsuccessful efforts to build a public transportation connection in the Reigoldswil Valley, the valley’s population took the initiative and built Switzerland’s first state-licensed motorway. A little over 50 years later they also built the gondola train Reigoldswil - Wasserfallen.
The Gerhard Müller company of Dietlikon (ZH) was commissioned to build the facility. The Wasserfallenbahn (Waterfall Cableway) is the third gondola facility the company built in Switzerland, using their own design.
The cableway spans almost two kilometers, and the towrope leads from the valley station located at 544 meters via 12 masts to the mountain station at 828 meters. Thirty-six 4-seater gondolas were installed, and the ride took 12 minutes.
In the spring of 2006 the “venerable old” gondola of the year 1956 had to be decommissioned. Modern gondolas, which comfortably convey six persons per gondola to the mountain station, replaced it. Every year the new gondola transports between 80,000 and 100,000 persons.

Access:

By train from Basel, Zürich or Olten to the Liestal Valley, then by Bus Line 70 to the "Reigoldswil Dorfplatz" stop. From here a marked path leads in 10 minutes to the cableway’s valley station.
If you start at Liestal, Reigoldswil can be reached by car via Bubendorf, or you can take the road branching off at Obere Hauenstein Strasse.
