The High Rhine between Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhein is one of the most exciting water excursions of Europe. Passengers can board a Rhine boat at the foot of the Munot in Schaffhausen, to travel upstream past the castle of Hohenklingen and the historic market-gardening island of Reichenau and to land in Kreuzlingen.
The popular Untersee-Rhine cruise from Schaffhausen to Kreuzlingen is 50 kilometres in length; it lasts nearly 5 hours. At the Lower Lake, the south-western corner of Lake Constance, the Rhine leaves Lake Constance. The fleet of the Lower Lake and Rhine Shipping Company comprises six smart motor vessels of different sizes. In addition to regular scheduled trips, special additional trips are also offered – such as a romantic sunset cruise with an aperitif, trips to Schaffhausen with a connecting visit to the imposing Rhine Falls, and cruises combined with a fine meal in a fish restaurant. The boat trips can be combined with a bicycle tour or a walk. The boats operate daily from April to October.
