The gleam of the three onion-domed towers of the Baroque Stockalper Palace in Brig, each one named after the "wise kings" Kaspar, Melchior and Balthasar, is visible from afar. In Valais dialect, Brig means "bridge": the rivers Rhône and Saltina flow through this bustling town, with its impressive patrician houses.
