The buildings of French architect Jean Nouvel lend Lucerne a modern accent. His KKL building and The Hotel are regarded as international masterpieces. Landmark of the city is the Chapel Bridge with its water tower: Europe`s oldest covered wooden bridge, it was built at the beginning of the 14th century as part of the city fortifications.
