Discover the cultural, political, economical and social history of Switzerland between the 17th and 19th centuries.Prangins Castle was built in the 1730s in the French style, and has lived through a number of changes. It has been a Lord's residence, a prince's hideaway, a boarding school and a private home. It was finally donated to the Swiss Confederation by the Vaud and Geneva Cantons, and has now been transformed into the National Museum of French-speaking Switzerland.
Opening hours:
All year round, Tuesday to Sunday 11 o'clock to 17 o'clock.
How to get there:
By car: take the A1 motorway, from Geneva exit at Nyon, from Lausanne exit at Galand, then follow the road signs.
By train: take the train from Geneva or Lausanne to Nyon and take a bus to Prangins (this takes approximately 8 minutes).

This national historical monument, standing on an elevated position above Lake Geneva, is now a historical museum, presenting the history of Switzerland from 1750 to 1920 in around 40 rooms. Displays cover a variety of themes from economy and education to health, tourism and emigration, with exhibits ranging from a Bréguet wall clock and a hail cannon to a reproduction 19th-century grocer’s shop of colonial goods. The castle is set in a romantic park, and boasts the largest traditional kitchen garden in Switzerland.
