The imposing fortress was never overrun. The castle is owned privately, and guided tours are offered. The gem of the castle is its organ, with 2500 pipes, on which public concerts are regularly given.

Up until the start of the 19th century, Tarasp belonged to Austria. At around the turn of the 20th century, the castle underwent thorough renovation. The view from the high vantage point is recommendable. Hearing the castle’s resonant wooden organ with its 3000 pipes is a special experience.
