Inferno Slopes

Mürren

Tackling one of the longest downhill runs in Switzerland - extending 14.9 km from the Schilthorn to Lauterbrunnen (800 m a.s.l.) - is best done after a hearty James Bond breakfast at the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant.

On the original stretch of the world's most infamous and extreme ski-run that is accessible to all, the 'inferno run', skiers pass through the cannon tube via Winteregg to Lauterbrunnen. The record stands at 14 minutes, but it's thought better all round to take a break and admire the mountain panorama.

Throughout the winter, seasoned winter sports enthusiasts in particular can cover the slope with its 1,970 m altitude difference without time pressure. With clear views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the route demands full concentration.
