He is today General Music Director of the City of Aachen and Chief Conductor of the Graubnden Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra. The wishes of the orchestra to expand its activities played a role as well, and under the baton of their conductor, Marcus Bosch, the musicians were successful indeed: The bold project, which started in a difficult economic environment, was from the beginning a great success.

The situation today: The original basic concept attracts visitors of all ages and from all walks of life, connoisseurs and enthusiasts, as well as the curious who have never seen an opera. Every year in July, tens of thousands of spectators travel to Avenches. The numbers show how popular the Opera Festival is. Having started with 32,000 visitors and now counting 52,000 opera fans, the Avanches Opera has reached its goal. And the numbers are increasing every year. An unique atmosphere, internationally acclaimed artists, first-class productions and magnificent sets make the Avanches Opera Festival a must for theater lovers from all over Switzerland, and soon also from beyond the countrys borders.
