The origin of “Nidlete” is found in the “Mäsmelchen“ (“milk measuring”). All local farmers meet on the Alp to milk their cows and to weigh or measure the milk produced by the cows. On the basis of the measured milk, they calculate the quantity of cheese each farmer will receive during the “Chästeilet”.

Highlights

Today Nidlete is a typical Alpine festival of the Hasliberg Mountains. Specialties served at the Nidlete are “Schluck and Nidle” (curdled milk and whipped creasm) and “Chäsbrätel” (rarebit).
