Nestling between the Harder and the Seven Hengsten, the attractive village lies at the foot of the Augstmatthorn. Due to the isolation of the village, the villagers’ daily life still exhibits an adherence to many old traditions. The village has a population of 700. Because of its hills and summits, the valley possesses an incredible variety of flora and fauna. The magnificent moor landscape surrounding the Lombach Alp offers a special experience in the natural world.
During the summer and fall months one can find opportunities to relax during long hikes, electric-bike tours and while observing animals. A visit to the alpine cheese dairy, the apiary, or an excursion to the solar-heated swimming pool guarantee fun as well. The bellowing of the stags and the colorful magnificence of the deciduous trees in the fall let you forget your hectic routine down in the foggy valley.
In the winter, Habkern has a small, family-friendly skiing area with 100 % natural snow. Winter hiking on Lombach Alp, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing guarantee unique snow adventures.
