Intro
The saffron village of Mund is located on a sunny hillside at 1200 m above sea level, on the right side of the Vallée du Rhône, within the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
Description
Fifteen minutes by car from the agglomeration of Brig-Glis-Naters, here you will experience a relaxing vacation close to town, the ideal starting point for hiking excursions or snow shoe hikes. In unison with nature, the saffron village offers visitors an intact and well-kept landscape with breathtaking views onto the mountains of the Valais.
The sun-spoilt mountain village is known worldwide because of its saffron. The queen of plants can be admired in October in the fields just below the village. The "red gold" refines various local specialities which are served in our restaurants. Our visitors will learn lots of useful information about saffron while following the saffron tutorial path or visiting the saffron museum.
With us you will wander along the beautifully kept "bisses" (the old water conducts) in the wild romantic valley of the Gredetschtal in the middle of the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Earthy hamlets, preserved in the old Valaisian architectural style and the "mayens" (mountain pastures) invite you to stay. Here you will encounter black nose sheep, black neck goats and cows of the Val d'Herens race – a pure natural experience.
