The people of the village still celebrate their traditions and customs, with the annual Corpus Christi procession, for example, always attracting many visitors. Sports events in the village are also very popular. At the end of the season the traditional alpine "Alex Berchtold memorial slalom" takes place, a race in which many a world cup winner has gained victory.
In summer Visperterminen is known for its countless hiking paths. The chair lift brings you directly from the village to 2,000m above sea level, the ideal starting point for short or longer hikes. The unspoilt landscape with its clear mountain lakes, the "Suonen" irrigation channels and breathtaking view of the highest Swiss mountains will also enchant you. In the summer you can see cheese being made in the unspoilt village of Nanztal in the summer alps. If you are lucky you may even come across some of the large mountain animals in Nanztal, such as ibex, deer or roe deer.
You can while away some peaceful hours in the village playing minigolf, taking a guided tour of the village museum or winetasting.
The mountain railways in Visperterminen provide easy access to a beautiful ski resort in the midst of the alps offering panoramic views of the highest mountains in Switzerland. This child-friendly, open area is guaranteed snow from Christmas to Easter, takes you to 2,300 metres above sea level and has 20 kilometres of ski slopes. It can be accessed by 1 chair lift, 2 T-bar lifts and 2 rope tows. Children can have fun on the sledging piste or attend the ski and snowboard school, which of course is also open to adults.
The exciting 7km-long sledging slope leading from Giw to Visperterminen is a fun adventure for the whole family. Every Friday the week's sledging anecdotes are recounted in a romantic ambiance combined with a delicious fondue. Those looking for more peace and quiet can fully appreciate nature on the 15km-long winter hiking paths away from all the noise and activity or admire the magical, unspoilt winter scenery on a snowshoe hike. There are 12 kilometres of signposted snowshoe trails as well as our unique snowshoe trail on the theme of tracks in the snow.
