The operating company has three warm-water plants, each with the capacity to store about 50,000 liters of hot water for domestic use and for heating. As described above, two photovoltaic systems have been installed on Gamplüt, at an elevation of 1400 meters above sea level. Thermal collectors have also been installed on the balconies of the inn. The collectors supply a hot water reservoir of 7000 liters. The maximum speed of the cable car is 19.8 km/h.
Photovoltaic cable car
Wildhaus
The world’s only (as of 2012) 100 percent solar-powered cable car is in Toggenburg. The cable car connects Wildhaus with Alp Gamplüt. The photovoltaic panels on the roof of the mountain restaurant and of the machinery hall supply about the same amount of electricity as the cable car consumes.
