The mountain station of the Monte Generoso railroad as well as Hotel "Vetta" (1601 meters a.s.l.) are located slightly below the actual summit, which as a typical pre-alpine peak offers a grand 360° panorama of the distant High Alps. Deep below lies Lake Lugano with its many arms and lakeside mountains, and at the horizon stretches the white arc of the Alps, from Monte Rosa via the Bernese Mountains up to Bernina. To the south you can see the plains of the Po River and through the mist you may even espy the Cathedral of Milan and the Appenines. Staying at a comfortable hotel on the summit, you will discover not only hiking trails, chamois and viewing platforms, but also the possibility to view the night sky through a telescope. Full moon nights on the "Generous mountain", or sunrises over the Alps are the stuff memories are made of.

How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation from Lugano to Capolago, from there take the Monte Generoso mountain train to the top of Monte Generoso.
