This summer the SonntagsZeitung has carried out the eighth «Hotel Rating». The «best» addresses are divided into 5 categories. The SonntagsZeitung has drawn up a list of ranking for holiday hotels, city hotels, wellness hotels, family hotels and nice-price holiday hotels.

How the rating was made
The author of the SonntagsZeitung’s hotel ratings is Karl Wild, a journalist and author who lives in Thalwil, Canton Zurich. He and his team of a dozen specialists in tourism and the hotel business, backed up by numerous travellers and holiday-makers, have visited all the hotels listed. To ensure a level playing field, only hotels with at least 12 rooms and their own restaurant were included.
The criteria applied were as follows:
- Rating in the relevant hotel and restaurant guides
- Quality controls by leading hotel associations
- Investments
- Hospitality
- Charisma and innovativeness of the hotelier
- Character and originality of the building
- Location, surroundings and recreational offering
- Price-performance ratio
- Category-specific offering
- Subjective overall impression
