Certified by ICOMOS

Historic Hotel of the Year 2009 Hirschen Inn has been distinguished "for the careful and skilled conservation and restoration of the historic inn. This includes both the way the interior decorating was authentically restored and the reuse of historical elements. The decoration of the rooms with 18th century furniture from the region is done just as stylishly and skilfully as the refurnishing of the restaurant, bar and dining room." The Wirtshaus Zum Hirschen, the largest secular building in the town of Eglisau, is located on the Untergasse directly on the Rhine. The inn, also sometimes known as the "Goldener Hirschen" (the "Golden Stag"), dates back to the 16th century, with the main structure on the eastern side dating from 1573.
