Intro

Pater Placidus a Spescha knew his way around in the Disentis mountain world. He sought minerals, certain flowers and drew maps – and up here we find ourselves walking in his footsteps.

Description

Alp Caischavedra is located on a scenic headland above the Diesentis monastery village, and is reached today by means of a cable railway with large cabins. On attractive crystal and flower excursions, here’s the place to absorb and profit from the knowledge handed down by a Spescha. The mountain forest trail reveals details of the protected forest – and the "Maurus e Madleina" theme path traces in the tracks of the local children’s books artist, Alois Carigiet.

Caischavedra is the starting point for easy hikes over alpine meadows, but also for more challenging hikes, such as the glacial crossing to the Cavardiras SAC alpine hut that takes around around 4 hours.
