Graubünden Art Museum
Overview
Intro
Various kinds of art can be experienced in the two houses, the Villa Planta and extension with its very different space qualities.
The collection at the Bündner Kunstmuseum (Grisons Museum of Fine Arts) has grown since its foundation around 1900 as a result of Grisons’ special cultural situation: this includes its character shaped by the mountain landscape and interaction between emigration and tourism.
The Bündner Kunstmuseum can look back on more than 100 years of focused art collection work. An unmistakeable collection profile was created with numerous works by Angelika Kauffmann, the Giacometti family of artists, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the "Rot-Blau" artists’ group, who all have a close relationship with the canton of Grisons and are important to art history today. However, the collection also reflects the variety of contemporary artwork.
Five to six special exhibitions are held every year.
