When in Switzerland, a visit to Mt. Rigi, Queen of the mountains is quite de rigeur. Now it can be combined with a special treat: cocktails or dinner in the aerial cable-car gondola. The meal choices served in the slowed-down gondola are either "Mark Twain", "Johann Wolfgang von Goethe" or "Queen Victoria". All three once visited this mountain and had only the best of things to say. Twain felt that it was a "gentle, rich paradise" while Goethe exuberantly described being surrounded by all the loveliness of the world, while Queen Victoria was quite British in her reserve, pronouncing it to have been "a most successful day". Diners will agree with all three as they look out to observe the glittering lake and the sun going down over 100 peaks.
For groups of max. 20 persons only, daily from May till September.
How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation to Weggis, via Luzern.
