Summer
Summer time is the time for walking. Over 100km of marked hiking trails lead through the valley to secluded mountain lakes and over historical crossing points to neighbouring villages. The viaSpluga Cultural and Long Distance Footpath leads from the village of Splügen over the Splügen Pass and on into the small Italian town of Chiavenna.
Winter
The sunny ski area of Splügen-Tambo at the foot of the majestic Pizzo Tambo on the Italian border is a focal point of attraction in winter. Cross-country fans will enjoy the 40km of snow-covered ski-runs alongside the young Hinterrhein and winter walkers can choose from over 20 km of the best prepared paths between Sufers and Hinterrhein.
Viamala.
While the very biggest winter sport areas are not to be found in Viamala, this region is quite an experience and visitors will greatly enjoy the immense freedom and real winter sport fun of its six skiing and snowboarding areas, with very well groomed slopes, sledge runs, winter hiking trails and idyllic cross-country ski tracks, as well as wonderful natural ice rinks in picturesque villages and in front of magnificent mountain panoramas.
