“Gantrisch” is the name of the 2,176m pre-Alpine peak between the Gurnigel region and the Simmen Valley. But the “Gäntu”, as the citizens of Bern call it, also refers to the Gantrisch region or the regional nature park.

The Gantrisch region certainly also offers visitors some spectacular sights from a different angle. For example, wild animals that can be seen in the forests when they emerge from hiding in search for food. Here foresters also help children in understanding the small wonders of this secretive world.

An ingenious educational trail on a raised walkway through the Lothar Forest explains the various natural relationships, while the monastery ruins of Rüeggisberg are discovered on the pilgrims road to Santiago.
Those who prefer less strenuous activities, and a little less walking, can visit the Vreneli on the Guggershörnli or admire the view of the Alps from the Tavel monument.
