Cheese-making in the Mendrisiotto region takes place almost exclusively in the Muggio Valley and on Monte Generoso. A very special cheese called "Formaggino" is made from goat's or cow's milk or a mixture of the two. Another one that tastes wonderful is “Zincarlin”, a kind of sharper-flavoured Formaggino, with added herbs and pepper.
