Locarnese National Park, a joint project of 14 regional communities and 13 municipalities, aims at strengthening the economically weak side valleys of the Locarno region and at opening up perspectives for the future of the local population. The park project is set to become an interesting travel destination for nature lovers and will promote tourism in the region.
The project is designed as a nature park and people will live and work in the park area. Visitors will encounter diverse offerings. Many cultural sites, little known villages with traditional stone houses and pristine nature, are typical for this region. Connoisseurs will find tasty regional products such as sausages, cheese, fine corn meal (Farina Bona), chestnuts, and much more.
