Description
Thanks must go to the tenacious resolve of the inhabitants of this large mountain valley and the work of landscape and nature protection agencies for allowing this mountain stream to retain its wilful character and its freedom. The hike along the Rom from Fuldera to St. Maria in Müstair leads through changing fluvial topography: flowering meadows with orchids and shade-giving shrubs on the Fuldera plain, dense riverside woodland with alders, willows and age-old larch trees, natural and diverse woodland peripheries where dog roses and sallow thorn provide for colourful highlights. Yet the gurgling of the Rom remains one’s constant companion throughout the hike, as does the view of the expansive and quiet mountains of this high Grisons valley.
