Description
Raw material for lime, cement and gravel production has been mined from the Lochezen quarry for a hundred years. Insights into the various mining periods and the conditions prevailing then are gained whilst walking through the tunnels (guided tours). Relics of the underground "military hospital" from the time of the Second World War provoke amazement. 2-hour guided tours, on request.
The careful planning of a tour will ensure that you also derive the maximum pleasure and enjoyment from it. Please take the time to contact the local information centre and enquire about route and weather conditions before setting off. Your intended trail may be fully or partially closed, depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
