Description

There is a reason for the name: the Alp is as stony as the flanks of the surrounding mountains. Once, according to a legend, this Alp was particularly green and lush, but an avalanche destroyed it after a misdeed was perpetrated by a young cowherd . Today the Alp holds other treasures: La Pierreuse is the largest nature reserve of the Romandie and is a landscape of national importance with characteristic Pre-Alpine appearance: rocky regions, alpine meadows with a rich flora, flat marshes, fir trees, spruces and the occasional deciduous forest. Besides the varied alpine flora, the great variety of bird species is particularly remarkable. With a bit of luck and patience you will be able to observe golden eagles, falcons and black grouse.

For families: Families and children are heartily welcomed at Château-d'Oex . Bowling, Ludothek and an ice skating rink are open daily for adults and children. The babysitting service takes care of younger children who are over a year old.
