Description
Porrentruy - Le Banné - Les Chainions - Seleute - St-Ursanne
The start at Porrentruy is as follows. From the starting point, Porrentruy, the residence of a former prince-bishop, the route leads at first through the gently rolling hills of the Ajoie, an agricultural region. Influenced by its neighbor, France, as regards landscape, climate and culture, the Ajoie is quite distinct from the rest of the Jura along the Trans-Swiss-Trail-Route. The Trans Swiss Trail exhibits a spectacular change of scenery already during its first stage, when the ascent to the forested Jura crest at Les Chainions is followed by the descent to the deeply cut valley of the Doubs River.
