The oldest parts of the castle date from the 11th century. The castle stands on the shores of Lake Geneva between Lausanne and Vevey and played an important role in the history of the canton of Vaud. The Château is also a wine-growing estate that is allowed to use the protected designation of origin Saint-Saphorin. Guided tours daily except Sunday and Monday.
