Today, new life has moved inside the old walls of the castle. The cultural project known as "Origen" has sympathetically converted this impressive place into an auditorium. The massive, rough walls of the medieval castle form a dramatic background for drama performances, laden with a sense of history. There are also other residents going back and to in Burg Riom: it is home to the highest-living colony of jackdaws in Europe. At times, there are up to 300 birds living in the ancient ruins.
