The stone houses in the Calanca Valley are known far beyond the valley’s borders. Hamlets such as Valbella or the Monti di San Carlo are desirable targets for detail-oriented photographs. The houses are partially built with stone, partially with spruce trunks in the block house style. Particularly impressive are the roofs covered with square-cut stone plates.
