Jura Crest Trail
Overview
Intro
As with all walks on the Jura Crest Trail, there is no shortage of spectacular vantage points on the route from Brugg to the Staffelegg Pass. To the north, there are wide vistas of the hilly terrain of the Aargau and Baselland Jura. You might even see the Black Forest far in the distance.
Densbüren: Staffelegg pass summit to parking lot
Description
From the full signpost, the route goes directly through various parts of Brugg and to the first ascent up to the infamous Linn lime tree. Legend has it that this approximately 800-year-old tree was planted on the graves of those who died in the Black Death by the last survivor of Linn, to prevent any future outbreaks of plague.
A leisurely and wide trail leads through typical Jura forests. Beech trees as far as the eye can see, lush green in spring and summer, before transforming into a splendour of colour in autumn. This forest adorns the entire Jura Crest Trail and is a recurring element all the way to Nyon. The same is true of the many passes on the Jura Crest Trail. First on the agenda today is the Staffelegg Pass. After a short descent, the top of the pass is reached. There is a postal bus stop at the endpoint of the stage, with connections to Frick and Aarau.
