La Valsaine room - permanent exhibition:
The Chartreux monks have been living below Cerniat for more than 700 years and their history is inextricably linked to that of the countryside itself. This room lets you look into their world, discover their spirituality and see what their day-to-day life is like.
Since 1976, visitors have not been allowed to the Valsainte site below Cerniat. Through models, reconstructions, photography and objects from the abbey itself, we can learn about the way of life of the Chartreux who have been living in the region for more than 700 years.
