In the La Niva area, Nature is left to her own devices. Felling trees is forbidden and livestock are not allowed in. This means that the forest can develop in its own way, undisturbed. Here, on land owned by the municipality of Savognin, trees are allowed to become old, and when they die they gradually decay and provide a habitat for new life. This is a boon for countless species of fungi, plants and animals that find it hard to survive in a managed forest.
