Aargau is known for its history which dates back to the Romans and includes the Habsburgs. Numerous castles and monasteries show art and other cultural artefacts. Most can be visited or rented for special occasions. About 70 museums are built around themes, collections, and artefacts. Twelve medieval, well-kept cities offer a special atmosphere and display their heritage proudly.
