Its location on the banks of the Rhine, a mild climate and its proximity to the city of Zurich have ensured that this tranquil gem has gained in popularity over the years as a refuge of recreation and well-being that offers the region an outstanding opportunity to engage in active recreation. The sports minded will find their pulse rates rising as they use our fully developed Nordic walking paths, cycling routes and hiking tracks – all in the full knowledge that there is a warm, relaxing soak in a bubbling thermal bath waiting for them when they return from their exertions.
Switzerland's largest open-air thermal baths – an oasis of joy
What attracts most visitors to Bad Zurzach is the famous spring from which the warm healing waters are directly pumped into the thermal baths. The spacious spascape comprises four large outdoor pools with a range of aquatic attractions including massage jets, a flowing water pool, whirlpools, a waterfall and neck jets. The highlight, opened in October 2008, is the "Wohlfühlbecken", which translates as "pool of well-being". This new thermal pool with its gentle jet massage technology, bubbling water grottos, whirlpools, massage seats, numerous massage jets and massage beds, as well as its innovative LED lighting are only some of the outstanding features that make this new thermal pool one of the most modern of its type. The LED lighting is an especially effective optical inducement to a feeling of well-being. Here, a multicoloured spectrum plunges the water into a sensuous sea of colour, giving bathers the feeling of floating in light. The Zurzach baths are in fact Switzerland's largest open-air thermal baths.
A pleasant yet gentle fragrance wafts through the directly adjoining SPA Medical Wellness Center. This complements the thermal area by providing a wide ranging programme of body therapy, beauty and wellness, active health care, fitness and medically monitored physical therapy. Those in need of recuperation greatly appreciate this top modern saunascape with its steam bath, Kneipp basin, adventure showers, "sanarium" and areas for relaxation and fresh air.
Active recreation for the senses
The boundless bliss of the baths is enough to whet your appetite for the stimulation and active recreation provided by such activities as window shopping through the medieval village centre and the market town with St. Verena's Cathedral, and a visit to the castle or to one of the art galleries.
Passionate hosts
The Thermalquellen Resort's three hotels as well as the Park Hotel all enjoy direct access to the thermal baths. So it's not a problem to wander down from your room directly across to the wellness oasis while still wearing your dressing gown. Visitors keep coming back to Bad Zurzach for more of the family-like atmosphere and warm hospitality that they enjoy in these hotels. Anyone strolling through the resort on a mild summer's evening and seeing the "water symphony" with its colours and music is going to want to linger a while or to start making plans for their next visit to this rather delightful little town.
