The Jungfrau Railway leads from Kleine Scheidegg up to Jungfraujoch. It climbs nearly 1,400 meters in height and covers a distance of more than seven kilometers in tunnels along the nine kilometer long stretch.
In the interior of the summit at Europe's highest train station (the peak is called "Sphinx"), a lift takes visitors to the peak with its observatory and the famous observation platform, from which one has a magnificent view of the mountains and the Aletsch Glacier. The Jungfrau-Aletsch region with its unique plant and animal world is the first Unesco World Natural Heritage Site in the entire Alpine region. Further sights include the Ice Palace, the Ski and Snowboard Park and the glacier restaurant "Top of Europe".

Even the journey to the top of europe was soooooo much thrilling n exciting. The 45mins long tunnel of the Eiger mountain was awesome...

A trip of a lifetime for me in 2000. Went with my brother, sister-in-law & niece and will never forget the entire trip, but truly this was the highlight. I could have stood up on the platform forever and just kept turning, taking in the view of 4 countries (Italy, France, Germany & Austria) on a clear day. SPECTACULAR....IT'S ON MY BUCKET LIST TO RETURN THERE SOME DAY.

This is the place of all places. It is totally unforgettable. We, my wife & I, experienced the mountain twice at Jungfrau both times from Grindelwald. It can be taken from Interlaken also.Everyone should go to see Switzerland and all of the Alps areas of each country,Austria,Germany,Italy & France and be amazed at the beauty of it all !!! Absolutely fantastic!!

Waaaaay back in September 1971 -- or was it 1970? -- a buddy and I, then young and single, spent three weeks in Europe. It was too much to see and do in too little time, but memorable and worth it in any case. The best scenic highlight was our trip on the cog railway into the Jungfraujoch. As I recall we had arrived at Interlaken on an overnight train from Paris (The Orient Express, I think. Could that be?) and did this as a side trip. It was incredible. I'm a Pacific Northwest native and remember marveling that I had taken a train to a point higher than the summit of Mount Hood, Oregon. It was a delight to discover this Web page. Thank you. I traveled in June 2011 with my family on the Jungfrau railway. It was a delightful journey. Some of us could not get a seat and were standing near the doorway .To our surprise , we were offered a coupon to get a complimentary drink with a note of regret. We travel in our great City of Mumbai (India) with bone crushing rush every day for our bread and butter . The sensitivity shown by the Swiss people is most appreciable. Thank You
