The Gastern Valley (Gasterntal) can only be accessed via the narrow Chluse Gorge on foot or by bus from the Kandersteg Railroad Station.

The young Kander River rushes with force into the valley. The Gasterntal, a high, untouched valley formed by the glacier, reveals here its breathtaking beauty. A groomed hiking trail runs along the Kander up to Kanderfirn, the origin of the river. For hikers and climbers, the Gastern Valley is the starting point of wonderful tours.
