The hiking tour from Magglingen across Mt. Twannberg down to Twann is a "classic-" - the most popular tour of Lake Biel. The beautiful views of Twannberg mountain contrast strikingly with the deep Twannbach ravine. The views of the lake and Petersinsel island round off the tour, cementing its effect as a unique hiking experience. A subsequent stroll through the center of Twann, which is well worth seeing, is followed by a bonus - a comfortable cruise on a ship back to Biel.

Description

The picturesque Twannbach Gorge
The entry to the gorge is not all that spectacular - a little stream burbles along peacefully next to the hiking path. But the picture changes after the first steps. Rock walls, several metres high, tower upwards to the left and right of the stream. Waterfalls of various sizes roar down into the depths, with chutes between them that accelerate the water to breathtaking speeds before they thunder and crash into a small lake. Meanwhile, the hiking path takes you across one spectacular stretch after another - sometimes across a daring wooden footbridge, then underneath the cliffs which have been hollowed out to depths of several metres in places.
