The trail takes you across meadows to an assemblage of piled up stones, which has to be surmounted via four staircases of larchwood, followed by stone steps, stonewalls and terraces, before the trail finally winds through a forest to the bridge path.

The route takes you just 120 meters across bridges down to the gorge, which towers high above the river and affords a marvelous view of the Grotte aux Nymphes, or fairy grotto. The return hike is accomplished partially via the former international road section (walking path) between Martigny and Chamonix.
