Tradition dictates that a grand New Year's Reception is held in Klosters village centre on the afternoon of 1 January. At this event, some 2000 locals and guests take the opportunity to toast the new year. The highlight of the new year's first event is the "Hotschrennen": ten locally raised pigs take part in an entertaining race to choose the lucky mascot for the coming year.
