The Ironman 70.3 Switzerland is staged for the third time in 2009. This new competition is part of a worldwide qualification series for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida. Each discipline covers half of the traditional Ironman distance, e.g. Swimming 1.9 km (1 round); Bicycling 90 km (2 rounds); Running 21.1 km (3 rounds). The total distance to cover adds up to exactly 70.3 Miles, as indicated in the name of the event. There will be over 1000 athletes from 27 nations at the start. An attractive entertainment program completes the competition.
