The Patrouille des Glaciers, the legendary ski mountaineering race organized by the Swiss Army, will take place again in 2016. This cult event in the ski mountaineering calendar takes from Zermatt via Arolla to Verbier.
The start is worth seeing at least once in life. Days before the race, Zermatt teems with competitors training for the event, both women and men. The contest, organised every other year by the Swiss army, is regarded as the toughest of its kind in the world and takes the patrols with each 3 participants over 112 kilometres from Zermatt via Arolla to Verbier.
Planned starts from Zermatt: Tuesday, 19th April and Friday, 22nd April
